Alex Gonzales Set And Forget Index Review: The Short Answer
Set And Forget is a forex swing trading program built on one idea: find the trend on the weekly and daily charts, wait for price to reach a weekly or daily area of interest, enter on a lower-timeframe shift of structure with an engulfing candle — then set the stop and target and walk away. No break-evens, no trailing stops, no scaling in. Alex calls himself “the least aggressive trader ever”: “I don’t have to trade. I only trade if it makes sense.”
The full 11-section video index is on the Alex Gonzales Set And Forget product page. This review is about everything the index cannot show you — what the five boxes mean, how a trade is graded and how to get through 160 hours without getting lost. For other low-frequency systems, see our Set & Forget supply and demand index review.

Instructor profile
Alex Gonzales (“Alex G”)
Forex swing trader · creator of the Set And Forget strategy
- Miami-based; describes “six years, seven years of trading” built by “trial and error”
- Spent “two and a half years” pinning down the five-box checklist
- Trades mainly currency pairs on higher timeframes; TradingView for charts, MetaTrader for execution
- One indicator only: the 50 EMA — “It’s literally just market structure telling you.”
Background as stated in the lessons. The instructor states he is not a financial advisor; income and lifestyle claims from the classes are deliberately not repeated here.
Inside the Files: How 160 Hours Are Split
The runtime map shows a course in two halves: the strategy (Level 1 plus the GOLDEN VIDEO, about 36 hours) and the application (Sunday Swings and the 100 to 1M bootcamp, about 95 hours combined). The Trading 101 section is tiny on purpose — 25 clips in 25 minutes.

Our suggested viewing path (Alex’s own order)
1
Trading 101 → Level 1 Classes 1–5 — build the foundation; “You cannot apply the Set and Forget strategy on a different foundation.”
2
GOLDEN VIDEO + “What Grade Trade Should I Take” — the entire system as a checklist — print it
3
Level 2 Psychology — nine short videos, including the risk-management rules
4

The Set And Forget Method in One Diagram
The five boxes from the GOLDEN VIDEO
1 · Weekly bias
structure by body closes
→
2 · Weekly confluence
EMA, AOI, round level, rejection candle
→
3 · Daily confluence
same menu on the daily
→
4 · 4H condition
buy a higher low / sell a lower high
→
5 · Entry signal
1H/2H/4H engulfing
“We are only going to buy at a weekly or daily area of interest. Anything from the four hour down is just for entries.”
Grading: a report card for every setup
Each confluence carries a weight, and the total becomes a grade. Swing trades need weekly, daily and 4H alignment; day trades work with daily and 4H. The live classes set a practical floor of setups at 70% and above, and the short “What Grade Trade Should I Take” lesson explains why the grade you accept depends on your own risk tolerance.
Risk rules that make “forget” possible
One to two trades a week. A minimum reward-to-risk of 1:2 (“What about a 1.9? No”), raised to 1:2.5 in later sessions. A stop placed where “if hit, we are completely wrong” — beyond the shift of structure plus 5–7 pips of breathing room. One take profit at the weekly or daily structure point, measured to candle bodies. “Hope isn’t a confluence.”
Case Study: The EUR/JPY Long From the GOLDEN VIDEO
The GOLDEN VIDEO rebuilds a trade the bootcamp watched together on TradingView replay — “the pair that has already had the trade and we saw it play out perfectly.” Here is how it fills the five boxes.
📊 Case study — EUR/JPY long (GOLDEN VIDEO, Level 1)
| 1 · Weekly bias |
Bullish — “The moment we body closed above here, now this turns the higher high.” Daily and 4H were bearish, so: “mandatory reset to the weekly timeframe.” |
| 2 · Weekly confluence |
A weekly rejection from the previous structure point. |
| 3 · Daily confluence |
Daily rejection candle, rejection from a daily round psychological level and from a daily area of interest. No EMA confluence. |
| 4 · 4H condition |
Buy at a 4H higher low or potential higher low, while monitoring 15m, 30m and 1H shifts of structure — he chose the 30-minute. |
| 5 · Entry signal |
1-hour bullish engulfing, 2-hour bullish candle, 4-hour doji. |
| Stop & target |
Stop at the shift of structure plus breathing room — about 60 pips on the aggressive entry. One take profit at the daily structure point. Risk: “All you would bet here is just 2%.” |
| Outcome |
Target reached — “And then what you do after that, you take it, you just set and forget it, and then boom.” |
Reconstructed from the lesson transcript. Exact prices are not given in the lesson and are not invented here; the example illustrates the process, not a promised result.
“
We are snipers. We are not machine guns.
— Level 6 Bonus — Pass a Challenge
“
There’s no right or wrong answer. There is no magic timeframe.
— GOLDEN VIDEO
“
This is a marathon. This is not a sprint.
— Level 2 — Risk Management
Sunday Swings: the experience behind the strategy
Every week Alex scans his market list and narrows it down: “I’ll find the top five, top six, top four, top three, top two, that I’m going to be interested in trading.” The introduction sets expectations honestly — you see him “enter winning trades, enter losing trades.” Eighteen months of these sessions are the strongest proof in the course that the checklist is applied consistently.

🧠 3-question knowledge check
Answer in your head first, then tap a question to check. All answers come from the course lessons.
Q1. Price reaches a 4H support level that is not a weekly or daily area of interest. Buy?
Answer: No. Only weekly or daily areas of interest are tradable; “anything from the four hour down is just for entries.”
Q2. Your setup offers 1:1.9 reward-to-risk. Take it?
Answer: No — the minimum is 1:2 (“What about a 1.9? No”), and later sessions raise it to 1:2.5.
Q3. The trade is 30 pips in profit. Move the stop to break-even?
Answer: No. Set And Forget uses no break-evens and no trailing stops — one stop, one take profit.
