What is GM Raven Sturt Developing Chess Intuition for Cheap?
Develop your domination instinct –
A positional workbook to help you master the board
When you watch grandmasters play, it seems they have an inherent gift for knowing where the pieces go. With a single move, they know how to restrict their opponents’ pieces, set up their own crushing tactics, and protect their king, seemingly without effort.
Developing Chess Intuition teaches you how to progressively acquire this intuition via cyclical training methods. You will learn common positional themes that will be ingrained in your play as you work through the exercises, slowly ramping up the speed at which you solve them.
Each chapter in the course covers a different motif and contains 30 exercises to test your intuitive understanding of the topic at hand. The course teaches 10 key positional concepts. You spend a few minutes on each example the first time around and less and less on each successive go around.
What you learn within is not done via brute calculation, but rather via acquisition of subtle positional concepts to read a position and control the board.
What sets this book apart from other strategy workbooks is its focus on domination, or how you can control and restrict your opponent’s pieces while developing your pieces most effectively.
The concepts taught within:
✏️Domination with pawns – how to place your pawns so they restrict your opponent’s pieces most effectively
✏️Piece harmony and using your opponent’s pawns against them – harmoniously coordinate your piece to operate freely while you fix your opponent’s pawn structure so their pieces are rendered useless
✏️ Piece-on-piece domination – learn what pieces most effectively dominate others, such as how a rook and bishop can dominate a knight
✏️Pawns on the 5th rank – learn when pawns advanced to the 5th rank are an asset and when they are a liability
✏️Positional sacrifices – effect subtle sacrifices that will make the opponent’s entire army suffer in terms of harmony and coordination
You’ll also learn how to apply such prophylactic concepts to opening play, develop an intuition for defensive setups, realize the full potential of the queen, and how to dominate in endgames, and more.
In addition to the exercises in each chapter, all concepts are further illustrated in 17 model games, taken from both the author as well as from the best players to have ever played the game.
A Self-Taught Grandmaster Shows You How to Teach Yourself
The rules and concepts taught herein are ones your author, Grandmaster Raven Sturt, applies to almost any position on the board.
Being a self-taught player, he wanted a resource for students to learn these rules like they would learn tactical motifs.
Through trial and error, Sturt has figured out what works best for learners to get an iron grip on a position by restricting opponents’ piece play. His positional skills have led him to fill his trophy cabinet.
