Maria Wendt · Carousels That Convert · Index Review 2026Maria Wendt Carousels That Convert is the exact carousel system Maria Wendt uses on an Instagram account she says is close to a million followers — one carousel every single day, made on her phone in the native Instagram app. You learn the two carousel types she runs (nurture carousels for followers, pitch carousels for sales), how to pick and package the image, her hook and “second hook” rules, three rules for pitching, and how one carousel becomes an email, a Reel and a Story. Available now on Courses On Budget.

Why Maria Wendt Carousels Get Followers and Sales

Carousels are her favourite format because they need no new filming and little time. She makes them on the couch, in the car, even during her daughter’s swim lessons — and gets back far more than she puts in.

Carousels That Convert is split along one clear line. Every carousel she posts is either a nurture carousel (she also calls them storytelling carousels) or a pitch carousel. Nurture carousels tend to go viral and bring followers, but rarely make money. Pitch carousels make money, but rarely bring many followers. Each type needs different words, so she teaches the shared “packaging” first, then the words for each type.

Nurture vs. Pitch: The Two Carousels That Convert

Nurture carousel Pitch carousel
Main job Build know, like and trust; grow followers Get the comment that leads to the sale
Length As many slides as the story needs Two slides, “like 99% of the time”
Slide 2 A second hook that builds intrigue A long, beefy paragraph with the ask
Caption A one-sentence summary of the post The same call to action: comment the keyword
Rhythm Nurture, pitch, nurture, pitch — one post a day, scheduled for 9 a.m. PST

Packaging: The Image Is the First Hook

Module 2 of Carousels That Convert starts where most creators go wrong: a random photo. Her rule is that the image must support the story. For every carousel she lists the story’s keywords and picks a photo that shows them. For “Yesterday, I almost took revenge on someone” the keywords were power, influence and status, so she used an old screenshot of herself in a dress and heels outside a nice restaurant — not a beach or office shot. For “Being homeschooled made me a millionaire by 30, but I hated it” she chose a stylish photo that contrasts the homeschool stereotype. That carousel passed 16,000 likes and brought thousands of followers.

“I can say the perfect words. I can format it exactly like Maria teaches in the course. I can do all the things, but if I choose the wrong photo, we’re dead in the water to begin with.” — Module 2, How To Pick The Right Image

  • The contrast trick — she wears a lot of white, and white text on a white shirt is hard to read. She uploads the photo to ChatGPT and asks it to change only the clothing (or a light wall) to a dark colour. A white text bar needs dark behind it; a dark bar needs light.
  • One image or many? — multiple images only when the story demands it, like rating outfits. Reviewing her feed, she finds multiple images bring “about the same amount of results” for far more work.
  • The filter — a simple phone filter app with one preset, dragged down slightly, gives her feed its consistent blue-and-orange look.

Nurture Carousels: Storytelling That Builds Trust

Module 3 is the longest part of Carousels That Convert, at around 40 minutes. The idea source is simple: watch yourself. Most of the day sits at an emotional baseline; the moments of shame, rage, joy or belonging are where the best stories live. She jots each one in her phone notes the moment it happens — “Last night I was talking to some friends. We’re all millionaires” or “I used to judge single moms and then I got divorced” — and writes them out later. She also logs reactions from real conversations: when another parent at a kids’ party was shocked that Maria first saw the ocean at 21, it became a carousel.

Where you write matters too. Her best writing happens in a four-hour session at one local coffee shop, plus in Ubers and on planes — never at home or at the office, where she gets interrupted. She batches the writing on Tuesdays and Fridays. If personal branding is new to you, her profitable personal brand course covers the bigger picture this storytelling plugs into.

Three Questions Before Every Story

1
What am I trying to achieve?
The single-mom story aims for relatability with single moms and a new perspective for married ones.
2
What do I want them to feel?
Seen, accepted, curious — the emotion decides how the story is told.
3
What do I want them to do?
Comment, change a thought, change a behaviour — shown through a story, never preached.

Then keep the storyline simple. Her ocean story leaves out that she first saw the Atlantic, years before the Pacific trip that made her move to California — not to deceive, but because extra detail makes eyes glaze over. Finally, lean into what makes you different, not what you’re good at. For her, that’s being Catholic, homeschooled for all 12 years, and openly divorced as a single mom.

“Be private about others’ stories, other people’s issues, other people’s struggles, other people’s stuff, but be very public about yours.” — Module 3, How To Share Vulnerably Without Oversharing

The vulnerability lesson adds two practical guardrails. If her fingers shake as she posts, that’s a sign the story is worth sharing. And if a carousel so much as references a friend or a sister, she sends them the full text first and drops the post if they say no.

The Hook Rules Behind Carousels That Convert

In Module 4 she dissects hook after hook from her own feed, flops included. The image stops people; the hook makes them swipe. She often tests two or three placements in Instagram Stories first. The patterns:

  • Add a timeframe — “yesterday”, “last week”, “recently”. It makes the post feel like news.
  • Big headline, small sub-headline — on almost every carousel, and the sub-headline must back up the first line: “I didn’t take home any profit in July” + “This is the second month in a row.”
  • Touch a common fear — a friend talking behind your back, getting sued, having to fire someone.
  • Be specific — “I was broke and over $100,000 in debt” beats a vague struggle.
  • Avoid basic numbers like 10, 5 and 7 — her “visualizing a trip to Paris for more than 10 years” hook underperformed.
  • Use the “when this happened, this also happened” formula — “When I got divorced, I had almost no friends.”
  • Show a native Instagram element, like a screenshot of a comment, with the other person’s name blocked out. Use emojis rarely; they can look spammy.

The Second Hook on Slide 2

This is the lesson most carousel advice skips. If someone doesn’t swipe the first time, Instagram can show the same carousel again — this time opening on slide 2. So slide 2 is a second chance to catch them, and it must be just as intriguing as the cover, not an info dump. Her nose-reveal post shows the pattern: slide 1, “I’m finally ready to show you my new nose”; slide 2, “Why am I actually so nervous to share this with you? My hands are literally shaking as I type this.” Only after both hooks does the actual story start.

Pitch Carousels: Three Rules for Selling Without Sounding Salesy

Pitch carousels that convert follow one fixed format: something eye-catching on the first slide, a long paragraph on the second, often with a small third bar telling people to swipe. The “sale” is simply a comment with a keyword. Her examples come from a real campaign for her AI Money Maker course, with the hook “I get paid $2 every time someone uses this AI tool.”

1
Get straight to the point
Ask for the comment right away. “Comment Moneymaker and I’ll show you what to do” stays honest and ties straight into the landing page.
2
Reuse winning angles
At least twice a month. “Jackpot for micro creators” became “goldmine for micro creators” after it hit 6,000 comments against her ~2,000 average.
3
Show, don’t tell
A dashboard screenshot, a macro calculator, a calendar. It adds curiosity and a pattern interrupt.

She also covers a quirk of big accounts: one commenter posts the wrong word (“awesome work”), others copy it, and the funnel stops firing. Her fix is deleting wrong comments early. And she tested a three-swipe pitch with a video on slide 2. It took about 30 extra minutes and performed only average, so two swipes remain the rule.

One Carousel, Four Pieces of Content

Module 6 explains why Maria Wendt carousels get so much effort: they are the foundation everything else comes from. A pitch carousel becomes a two-swipe Reel with the same hook, second shot and call to action. One such Reel got 65,000 views, half from non-followers. The carousel version got about 100,000 more views, but mostly from followers — proof, in her words, of “different people, different feeds.” For a full system on reuse, pair it with this content repurposing roadmap.

  • Email — paste the carousel text into Google Docs; the hook becomes the subject line (shortened if needed, so “I made a decision not to date until my divorce is finalized” becomes “I can’t date”), and the sub-headline becomes the preview text.
  • Reel — a 3-second clip, her filter, the short hook on screen, the carousel text as the caption, plus music. She duplicates every draft so a winner can be reused later.
  • Stories — the same pitch work feeds Instagram Stories.

The same module opens her “save folder” of just 22 carousels from other niches. She saves formats to reverse-engineer, not trends to copy — as a self-confessed slow mover, her trend copies rarely work.

“I am not using ChatGPT to write any of this because ChatGPT cannot tell my story. I know my story. I can tell my story.” — Module 6, Why Attention To Detail Is Everything

How Maria Wendt Carousels Are Made, Start to Finish

Module 7 removes the mystery. She searches her camera roll by keyword for a candid photo (“they do so much better”), applies her filter, then types the hook in the Instagram Stories editor and plays with size and placement. On camera she catches two mistakes — an image that doesn’t support the hook and a white sweatshirt under white text — and swaps in a contemplative beach shot.

The hook “The most healing thing I ever did was forgive my ex-husband” gets the sub-line “It was brutal” and a second hook: “For the record, I was a victim.” She downloads the slides, uploads them as one post, adds audio and a one-sentence caption, and schedules it for 9 a.m. No paid design software is involved.

Final Verdict — Maria Wendt Carousels That Convert Review 2026

Maria Wendt Carousels That Convert is a practitioner’s course, not a theory course. She shows her real feed, her real notes app and her real numbers, flops included, and turns them into rules you can use on your next post: pick an image that matches the story’s keywords, fix the contrast, write a timeframe hook with a sharp sub-headline, give slide 2 its own hook, alternate nurture and pitch, and reuse every winner. It has no templates, but the decision-making it teaches is worth more than a template.
